I have a special spot out by the shoreline where I love to sit and meditate or just look out at the water.  I can see Mount Tamalpios, and the bridges from this spot and it's beautiful.  It just takes me 20 mins to get there and it's one of my favorites places on the planet.  I noticed I hadn't been there in months . . . so this Sunday I got up and treated myself to that beautiful view and peace that I receive when I go there.  The next morning the ache in my back  was gone and my body felt so relaxed.  I used to go there all the time . . .  I wondered what took me so long to go back.  It was always one of my self care gifts  to myself . . .  for in addition to the Beauty. .  . the rocks would ground and pull the pain out of my lower back. . . how had I forgotten that?   So much is going on in both our inner and outer worlds that self care is must become our first priority.  What are your self care gifts that you can give to yourself?

5 Small Acts of Self Care

1.  Before you even get out of bed move around stretch your body.-This is a gentle way to say hello to yourself upon waking.

2.  Smile at yourself in the mirror - This will uplift your mood with a release of endorphins.

3.  Put some color on. - If can be clothes of lipstick - You will feel more vibrant with this little pick me up.

4.  Listen to uplifting music as you get ready for your day - This helps set the tone for a positive day.

5.  Take mindfulness breaks during the day. - Slow down and take a few deep breathes though out the day- This will help release stress.

More Ways to Nourish the Soul and Take Care of You!

  1. Connect with Nature – Take a walk. -  Allow your feet to connect to the earth to bring you more fully into your body.  Feel the warm rays of the sun on your face, and  wind gently touching your skin.  Walk through the trees breathing in their fragrance or walk by the shore allowing the waves and fresh spray to uplift you.    We live in a sea of energies that will assist and bless us if we just take the time to connect.

 Be around People who know, like and love you .  - We all need to see our Goodness reflected back to us.  When we are held in high regard . . . when we are seen for who we truly are . . . we are activated. Our Heart Chakras expands not only outward, but inward also, allowing us to connect to the love that is always flowing there.  Being around folks who know and love us, reminds us to love ourselves.

 Make Water one of Your Best Friends. - Our bodies are over 80% water.  Our planet is nearly covered by water.  Water flushes out our systems, lubricates our bodies, and allows fluidity with our spiritual connections and inner communications.  While dehydration causes us to feel tired, water helps boost our energy levels.  We use/need water as the carrier of higher dimensional energies that we are all in the process of integrating as the frequentcy of the planet uplifts.

 Experience Beauty - Allow yourself to stop and experience Beauty.   True Beauty opens up our senses and uplifts us; it acts as a gateway of the Heart.  We feel a lightness in our bodies or a positive shift in our emotions.  It could be as simple as seeing that sparkle of joy in a baby’s eye or the moving grace of an eagle soaring.

  Take a Nap - I remember when I was a little girl I had to take afternoon naps.  And then when I taught pre-school school I used to look forward to the afternoons because the kids took a nap for a couple of hours and I could slow down too.  Now with our busy schedules and complicated lives we rarely takes naps.  With so much to do, and take in, we sometimes become irritable and out of sorts for no apparent reason . . . your Soul is growing . . . rest and take a nap.

Tips for Highly Sensitive People or Empaths

Being an Empath is both a gift and a challenge.  It usually allows you to have the precious insight into what is going on with others in a meaningful way.  It also creates additional stress on your body and energy system because you feel what others are going through. The trick is learning how to control your gifts and to have an exquisite self care practice.  So building a good relationship with your body is very important. . . and the first step is grounding.  Here's a simple practice to use anytime you may feel overwhelmed. For a little extra kick I sometimes use a salt rub on myself before I get into the shower.

Shower Grounding

  1. Have the water as hot as you can stand it. 
  2. Visualize the water as Golden Light.
  3. See it washing away all energies that don't belong to you.
  4. Imagine yourself as a tree.
  5. Sending roots from your feet into the core of the planet
  6. Send the washed away energies down your roots.
