As I was in the midst of bringing order to the seemingly chaos of my office space I came across some notes written a few years ago on a project that I was sooo excited about at the time . . . I remember the work and focus I put into it in the beginning . . . and then Life happened. Obstacles, both internal and external that came up that slowed me down . . . as I gently put that dream on the back burner . . . I told myself I would get back to it . . . I had more pressing things to do. Now waves of sadness flowed as I thought about it . . . I never got back to it . . . and while I sat having my own private pity party, Langston Hughes's poem popped into my head.
A Dream Deferred
by Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
Sooo I allowed myself to sit with the sadness . . . and breathe, and breathe, and breathe . . . and then continued to clean, and sort, and focus on the job at hand. . .
Funny how Spirit works . . .In the midst of this I came across a poem written by my daughter. She's so brilliant . . . I had forgotten all about it. As I smiled and read what she had written my heart lifted and I laughed. . . It's never too late !
DEFERRED OR RECYCLED ?
by Talya Miller
I have to ask the question cuz my dreams don't get deferred.
Re- written ... Re- worked.... Re-thought
My Dreams become R-E-C-Y-C-L-E-D
Changing into something I can currently use
I cry for them for three minutes . . .
Because ain't nothing scarier than having to re-work a dream
Then I do the necessary and recycle them into New Mind Fuel
As I continue to Grow
I repeat as I continue to Grow
Cuz my Growth is Constant.
I use Recycled Dreams as one of my many Tools . . .
So Forget about Deferment ....
I got the answer .....
Recycling is the Key ! ! !
Say a simple prayer for Change and Progress . . .
And head for the Future to set your Dreams Free ! ! !
