I remember where I was when the film Black Panther first came into my awareness.  I was at one of those new fancy theaters with the bucket seats, drinking wine and eating delicious pizza.  The previews were on for coming attractions and I was stunned by the action, beauty, and soulfulness of what I was seeing.  I must see THAT I thought.

And again I was stunned by the news of the passing of Chadwick Bosman who played the role of King TChalla.   He was diagnosed in 2015 with stage 3 colon cancer.  Even before Black Panther came out, he was sick and knew it. His own cancer diagnosis was held private as he continued to act in several movies. We are blessed by the portrayal of strong Black Men he was left us . . . Thurgood Marshall in Marshall, Jackie Robinson in 42, James Brown in Get on Up, and and more.  Many of his movies were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.

It’s amazing how he choose to live his life right up to the end.  He lived a life of Purpose, Faith, Power and Grace.  His acting was his calling, his means of shining his light to assist in raising humanity and he took his mission seriously.  He told very few folks about his illness, He just gathered around him a loving support team and went about fulfilling his mission . . . no matter what.

Both his Life and Death have changed me . . . I am deeply moved and Inspired.

Thank you Chadwick Bosman

During these intensely challenging times it is not wise to walk our path alone

Yes we are strong . . . and we need to gather together and support each other

Being tender and open is beautiful. As a woman, I feel continually shh’ed. Too sensitive. Too mushy, too wishy washy. blah blah. Don’t let someone steal your tenderness. Don’t allow the coldness and fear of others to tarnish your perfectly vulnerable beating heart. Nothing is more powerful than allowing yourself to be truly affected by things. Whether it’s a song, a stranger, a mountain, a rain drop, a tea kettle, an article, a sentence, a footstep, feel it all — look around you.  Take it and have gratitude.  Give it and feel love. -Zooey Deschanel
