As women it is in our nature to be of service.

We love and care for our Beloveds, our Families, our Friends, and the Kindred Souls in our lives

We put our energies into our Jobs, our Spiritual Organizations, and our Communities.

We at times we forget about ourselves, or our own needs come last.

Rve Michael Beckwith of Agape Spiritual Center, talks about the need to be of service from a place of

Wholeness and Fullness.

He states when we put ourselves needs first, nourish and care for ourselves, we then build up our own inner resources.

When we are in control of our own energies we can experience Fullness.

Then from the overflow of that fullness we serve and give to others.

At times as women we have been programmed that this is selfish and we feel guilty when we say no and take care of ourselves.

But I like to remember the instructions that are given when I get on a plane.

In case of difficulties and the plane loses pressure, each time we are instructed to put our own oxygen mask on first.

Why?  Because you cannot help anyone if you have passed out.

The activist poet, Audrey Lorde states, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare”

Those are pretty strong words, “political warfare”, and yet we exist within a culture that encourages women to place the needs of others before their own.

And we get validated for it.

When we continually give to others, and do not take the time to replenish ourselves, we become depleted.

And as that depletion becomes a way of life, we are tired all the time, we lose our spark for living, we become stressed out, and at times fall into illness and depression.

Then in that state we don’t have the energy for our own Dreams.

And it is the manifestation of Women’s Soul Dreams that will change the planet.

But only if we gain control of our own Energy, and begin to operate from our Fullness

Self care is not Selfish . . . it is the foundation for our Lives!
